«Humor is the antidote for all ills. I believe that fun is as important as love. Ultimately, when people are asked what they like about life, what matters is how much fun they feel, whether it’s car racing, dancing, gardening, golf, writing books. Life is such a miracle and it’s so nice to be alive that I wonder why anyone could waste a minute! Rice is the best medicine»

Drum Circle in hospitals can be used as a support to fight stress, depression and addictions.
Stress
Blood samples from participants in a one-hour drum session revealed an inversion of the stress hormone response, and an increase in the activity of natural killer cells.
(Bittman, Berk, Felten, Westengard, Simonton, Pappas, Ninehouser, 2001, Alternative Therapies, Volume 7, # 1)
Depression
Stanford University’s medical school conducted a study with 30 depressed people, aged over eighty, and noted that participants in a weekly music therapy group session were less stressed and with a higher self-esteem.
(Friedman, Healing Power of the Drum, 1994)
Cancer
Subjects who participated in clinical trials during the use of the HealthRhythms protocol showed an increase in the activity of natural killer cells and a strengthening of the immune system. While this would not indicate a cure for cancer, these results could be beneficial for those facing this disease.
(Bittman, Berk, Felten, Westengard, Simonton, Pappas, Ninehouser, 2001, Alternative Therapies, Volume 7, No. 1).
Addiction
Research indicates that playing percussion improves recovery through induction to relaxation and increased production of synchronization of the brain’s hemispheres and the creation of theta waves. Playing percussion produces pleasant experiences, increased awareness of unconscious dynamics, release of emotional traumas, and self-reintegration.
Playing in the circle of percussion lightens the excess of self-consciousness, isolation and alienation, creating a sense of connection with oneself and others. Playing percussion also allows you to reveal spiritual perspectives to the life of the individual.
The Drum Circles apply as a complementary therapy to drug addiction.
